Significance of innovation for a sustainable future

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been one of the most important topics in the agenda of German corporations, as well as the government. Taking responsibility for the environmental and social consequences of a business beyond legal requirements has been integrated in daily functions of many corporations in Germany. The ESF program “CSR – Gesellschaftliche Verantwortung im Mittelstand”, which is implemented between 2012 and 2014 in Germany, has significantly contributed to mainstreaming CSR good practices especially in SMEs.

While CSR is considered to be an important business competence in Germany, innovation has as much significance in leading companies and the country towards a sustainable future. It is more and more expected that companies improve their CSR processes and programs by integrating innovation as a complementary element. Indeed, companies that thrive for sustainable growth aims at innovating their processes that are to bring about products, services or models which are not only profitable for the company, but also valuable for the society and environment.

Global Impact Grid (GIG) takes part in the Erasmus+ Project Consortium Hi4CSR and takes the role of sharing and boosting innovative thinking processes in CSR processes and programs throughout the project.
